General Rules
- Outside Food and drink are not allowed into the convention area.
- Panhandling (begging for money, with or without performing music or other entertainment) is against local bylaws and will not be allowed in convention area.
- Laser pointers are not harmless toys; they are capable of inflicting serious eye damage. Irresponsible use of a laser pointer will result in expulsion from the convention.
- Water guns and projectiles are not allowed in convention space, any use of them in public will result in removal from the convention. All involved parties will be required to pay the cost of any property damages suffered by individuals or dealers. Also, BETA QUEST has a weapons policy so please make sure any props you have conform to this.
- Failure to follow the rules may result in expulsion from the convention. BETA QUEST reserves the right to remove anyone in violation of these rules. No refunds will be given to anyone removed from the convention.
- Any photos and video taken by BETA QUEST staff become property of the con and may be used for publicity purposes.
- Regardless of fandoms please treat each other with respect, we are all here to enjoy ourselves.
- Have fun, enjoy yourself, be courteous to staff and fellow attendees but please remember, the impression you make reflects on all of us.
Signs
BETA QUEST does not have an issue with signs unless they are:
- Signs that advertise services in exchange for goods or other favors (ie Will Glomp for Pocky, Hugs for $1) may be against local soliciting and/or panhandling bylaws and will not be allowed.
- Signs with slogans that would be unacceptable on a t-shirt are also unacceptable.
- Signs that outwardly insult another convention attendee, staff member or guest.
- Signs that are of political nature that have no bearing on the anime convention.
- We have the right to ask you to put signs away if security finds them inappropriate.
Alcohol, Drugs, Theft and Vandalism
- Violators WILL be prosecuted. We are a family friendly convention and WILL NOT tolerate any alcohol or drug use, sales or possession. You will lose your convention privileges, and the authorities will be called.
- Theft and Vandalism should be reported promptly to Security.
- This is a NO SMOKING environment. This includes e-cigs and vapes.
Glomping
Glomping (aggressive hugging, often without warning) can be disruptive and even cause harm to unsuspecting targets or bystanders being jostled in a crowded space. Please do not Glomp or hug anyone without asking permission/consent first. Repeated problems may be considered disruptive behavior and result in warnings and removal from convention. Also please keep safety in mind and do not glomp someone from behind.
Dress Code
The BETA QUEST Dress Code Policy covers all areas of the convention. All attendees must wear clothing and footwear at ALL times, even when you're in costume. The following costume elements are not allowed at BETA QUEST and the venue because of safety reasons, whether you are in costume or not:
- Bare Feet
- Roller Skates and rollerblades
- Skateboards
- Please look at our Weapon and Prop Policy on what weapons are allowed in the convention.
- Be aware that not everybody (includes parents, convention crew, and local law enforcement) are anime and manga fans, so they may question if your costume is appropriate. BETA QUEST is a family friendly convention, so parents with young children will be present.
- Real weapons are NOT allowed as part of your costume.
- Nudity and body paint are NOT costumes. Neither is just underwear.
- Body suits are allowed.
- BETA QUEST does not hold any responsibility if your prop or costume is damaged at the convention.
- Breasts and genitalia must be fully covered (nipple covers are not enough). The butt must be covered from the top of the intergluteal cleft (butt crack) to 2 inches bellow bottom of the cheek. The full curvature must be covered.
- If you're asked to cover up by BETA QUEST staff or local law enforcement please comply.
- Shoes must be worn at all times. No bare feet.
- Cosplay is not consent (ask before you take pictures or touch someone).
Weapon and Prop Policy
All weapons/props are subject to be inspected by BETA QUEST Security Staff.

- objects made of metal that could hold an edge, regardless of whether it is sharp.
- air soft guns

- Exceptions: prop weaponry that contain no moving parts and are marked with an irremovable orange tip, allowing them to easily be recognized as toys.
- No explosives of any kind.
- Nunchaku are not allowed.
- Items over 5 feet in length

- Items made of tissue paper, plaster of Paris, cardboard, plastic swords, wood, etc. as long as they pose no danger to you and other convention attendees.

Weapons Conduct
Any misuse of a weapon (swinging it around in a public area, causing a hazard to others) will result in staff requiring you to remove the weapon from the convention area. All weapons and props that may be deemed dangerous or inappropriate must be taken to the convention Security and be inspected by the Security Staff. Approved weaponry will be marked by the Security Staff. If a weapon is deemed inappropriate, you will be asked to remove it from the convention area or it will be taken by Security staff and held in the Security Office until a time when you can remove it from the convention area. If you are found carrying a questionable item, Convention Security Staff will ask you to bring it to the Security office for inspection. If you are unsure if your prop/weapon is allowed, please bring it to the convention Security office for approval. The BETA QUEST Security staff cannot pre-approve weapons and/or props. The Security Staff will deal with repeat offenders accordingly, up to and including possible ejection from the convention without a refund. The appropriate authorities will be contacted for more severe infractions. All decisions made by BETA QUEST and its Security staff are final.
